‘THE MUSEUM OF GARDENING’ HASSOCKS & ‘THE BUDDING
FOUNDATION’
by Clive Gravett, Curator.

A fascinating talk about the history of the lawn and the lawn mower. Clive will give us an insight into the museum of gardening and information about the work he does with young people. He will also be bringing some of the museum exhibits along. You may have seen him on Gardeners World in April 2021. Copies of his book ‘Two Men Went To Mow’ will be available for purchase.

‘BRITISH ALSTROMERIA AND THE U.K. CUT FLOWER INDUSTRY’

Ben Cross the owner of Crosslands Flower Nursery near Arundel is coming to talk to us about his established family business, a nursery which specialises in the growing of all year round Alstromeria. Championing sustainable British Flowers is at the heart of everything Ben does. He will be selling Alstromeria at this interesting illustrated talk.

HOW TO CREATE AND MAINTAIN A WILD FLOWER MEADOW IN YOUR GARDEN

Chris Davies is the M.D. of Agrifactors, a company that specialises in creating wild flower meadows. This is something many of us are trying to achieve in our own gardens and it isn’t easy! Chris is an expert and will be explaining how to grow and maintain a perfect wild flower meadow. He will also be bringing along wild flower seeds and plants for us to purchase.

SATURDAY 4th JUNE
FAMILY FUN DAY ON KING GEORGE V PLAYING FIELDS

The Horticultural Society will be running a mini show for everyone to enter. To commemorate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

A VISIT TO WITHYPITTS DAHLIA NURSERY, TURNERS HILL.

A guided tour of the nursery to see how the Dahlias are grown the Withypitts way!
Flowers and plants will be for sale and light refreshments served.

AN UPDATE ON KNEPP CASTLE ESTATE REWILDING PROJECT

Penny Green will make a return visit and will be giving us an update on the project and the latest information on the Knepp Estate environment and wildlife.
