WILDLIFE CONSERVATION

Tim Buckland will be talking to us on wildlife conservation whether it be for managing ecological risks for housing extensions or for a major infrastructure. His in-depth knowledge of legislation and policy
is valuable for these schemes’ progression. He has a strong understanding of mammal ecology and holds survey licences for great crested newts, bats, dormice and barn owls.

HERBS FOR HEALTH

Speaker, Susie Russell-Smith, strongly believes that what we habitually eat has a profound effect on our health. She will talk about the value of good nutrition, rest and leisure and how herbs play an important part in all these. Susie is a Certified Functional Nutritional Counsellor.

 

THURSDAY 24th APRIL

GARDEN SAGE

Ed Nugent will give us an insight into what Garden Sage is about, including the unusual and fun plants offered at this Henfield nursery. Ed has worked in horticulture on all types of nurseries since he was 16, gathering knowledge worldwide, sourcing plants for winning Chelsea gardens.

CLARE’S CHILLIES

Clare Kennet’s Cowfold nursery grows a variety of chilli plants for sale and for harvesting to make sauces, jams and oils. Clare will talk about her 30+ years of growing chillies (the first in Queensland in 1988) and her ethos of fun exploring and experimenting with the chilli vibe.

 

THURSDAY 24th JULY

SLINFOLD GARDEN VISIT
Time to be confirmed

Alison Brown’s garden in Slinfold is a delight. Amongst other plants she grows flowers for cutting and she will demonstrate how to put together bouquets. Refreshments included.

Patrick Letschka will talk on everything you have ever wanted to know about bees: from the different types of bees, to their housing and lifecycle, what happens in winter and much more.
